Ugh...I can't believe all propositions in Arizona, Florida AND California to ban gay marriage were passed. I thought America was all about equality? I'm furious over this and wonder if we'll ever progress.
From the way I see it, all those voters who passed it are no different from the white supremacists half a century ago who were trying to "preserve" marriage by wanting to ban inter-racial marriage.

Stolen from Anne!
1. Reply to this post, and I will pick three of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!
Anne's picks:
1.

Sunset Men, it's some official artwork I found from this fan-based website of this DS game called Hotel Dusk. I really liked it in the game and was happeh to find it online :) It reminds me of the Great Gatsby cover, which is appealing...I don't know I'm weird.
2.

I found this picture in a disturbing picture-only thread in this silent hill myspace group. I found it very lol
3.

More artwork from Hotel Dusk >.< sorry, I'm very unimaginative when it comes to icons. I really like the colouring of it and what it captures.

argh this gay marriage paper is more difficult than I thought. As for my thoughts on it; the FMA can go suck it. All the opposing viewpoints just don't make any sense, i.e.) It's a threat to the institution of marriage. Wait, what? Two people who love each other can't marry but someone like Britney Spears can go have 55-hour marriage stint for fun? Please, if anyone is destroying this institution of marriage you should try looking inward; the fact that 43 percent of first marriages end within 15 years is all enough.
The whole "if we legalize gay marriage, next thing you know people will want to marry their dog!" argument amuses me. Thanks for comparing us to animals, but last time I checked dogs can't sign their names on their own legal standing. "Same-sex marriage is no means of pro-creation for society, therefore it should be illegal" That goes for elderly and infertile couples, right? Same-sex couples are incompetent to raise children, so all single mothers/fathers are forbidden to raise children, right?
Gah, just reading all of these opposing viewpoints books just shows that the only reason gay marriage is opposed is due to biogtry and fear.
Anyways, I went to the charlotte observer yesterday, VERY COOL being right in the city. When all the applicants sat down with lady interviewing us she said, "Did I mention that the position you applied for isn't available?" and that caused confusion so apparently now we're applying for some other position at slightly less pay...huh. I did a drug test afterwords, weird, and now I have to call back monday.
So I took a philosophy test last week and finished under 15 minutes, the first to finish, and REALLY pissed off my teacher. Apparently she doesn't like the idea of someone fininishing one of her tests early, it's just impossible. So before handing back the tests she went on a ballistic illogical (irony!) speech on how finishing early will lead to failing (i got an 88). So next time I want to finish even earlier, like ten minutes, and just piss her off even more.
Friday is Diary of the Dead, hope it's not too packed since it's having a limited theatrical release...hmm.

Right now the movers are bringing the stuff in our new home, one of them asked me for weed D:
I got into a car wreck just one block away from here. I can't post all the details right now because I'm using my phone but I'm ok and no one was seriously injured but my moms car is totalled and the woman that hit me was taken to the hospital. I'm still in shock over all of it, I've never been in an accident before. I feel guilty as hell.
Its very cold here and I'm not sure how my wreck is going to affect my plans to come up to greenville this week. Oh well.
Hope everyone is doing well.

I am very sick and tired of hearing the phrase "It was ok, but I didn't like the ending AT ALL" in my Short Story class.
I am sick sick sick OF HEARING IT.
Along with the pompous pseudo-intellectual "The ending was too predictable, saw it coming."
Is that all people ever look forward to in stories??

I don't know, looking back at my last few posts and updates, my life is pretty much the same as always. So I can't really see the point in updating right now, maybe just letting someone know I still use this. Fall semester started this week and I'm taking just two classes; Mass Media Communications and Intro to Short Stories. I'm glad to be taking Mass Media since it really pertains to my Journalism major more than any other course I've taken and Short Stories seems pretty good so far. One teacher has a big ego and the other one's nice. My mass media teacher said books are going to be obsolete, though I don't quite agree. He said so because books and novels are regarded as "hot media", which means there's a good deal of concentration needed. But with "cool media" such as TV, there's less concentration going on. So wtd lazy much. I got A's in my summer courses so I have a GPA of 3.7, the highest I've ever had I think. Bioshock is taking up a good chunk of my time as of late, as far as games go. Truly amazing. The gameplay and exploration is so fun and the environments *drools*. I had one of the most intense battles fighting one of those things provided in the pic above, for reals. Hotel Dusk for the DS is also pretty gnarly, very novel-like. Not sure if some other action-bent gamers out there would appreciate it as much but oh well. I'm not feeling as out of sorts as I did in most of July. It was a month I'm not sure if I'll look back with disdain or happiness. I fell for someone knowing very well that I could be setting myself up for disappointment. We got as far as hanging out, then I realized that it wasn't going to work out and I stopped persuing. It left me very depressed for a few weeks but you know, here I am now. Although everytime i see the person at work I can't help but feel sad. Oh well.
Work work hmm I'm still a cook, much better then I started but I still panic during rushes when I'm by myself and when the order-screen just starts piling up. One of the managers always has to come back and bail me out when I get in the weeds, which makes me feel bad because I know that means I'm not fast enough. The other cooks don't need help during rushes, they get out of the weeds by themselves. I know I'm not fast enough; everyone's always told me I was slow for as long as I can remember. I try though to get better but maybe I can't. I feel inadequate.
My classes end december 10th so between then and christmas we should be moving up to Fort Mill in South Carolina, unless something comes up.
ummm I added alot more to that character arc I posted awhile ago, in case anyone cares. OH also The Host is a GREAT movie, korean monster movie ftw. Suspiria is also really good too...I was at FYE and I saw this one movie called Cannibal Holocaust so for some reason I was like "omfg zombies!1! askasldklasdkl" but then my sister says "UHHHH you really don't want that movie..." and I realize that it's an old 70's movie with lots of rape violence and real animal cruelty. Friends tell me it's the one of the most awful movies they've ever seen. Almost tempting but the whole animal cruelty deal doesn't bode well with me. Which reminds me, in Bioshock you have the option to kill little girls or rescue them. So far I've saved all of them...the idea of killing them is kinda screwed up. Dexter season 1 came out and of course I got it, the 3rd book comes out in september, woot.
I'm not sure if I put this in my last lj posts but I got into DDR, really fun stuff. I have Extreme and Extreme 2 so far, it was just a random urge I had one day and decided to get it.
I got this not too long ago. I'm such a dork! D: I just thought it was really nice.
I hope everyone is doing okay, I can't wait to see you guys again!
